I've gotten my first cold of the season from my son, welcome back to school! It's made me not so much sick as dead tired, like my bones weigh me down like lead. There is a studio waiting with fabric and fun and just don't have the energy to get in there. I have been crocheting though so am making hats for winter and to sell at the Harvest Fest in town next week. I also made two wee hats for my little great nieces in OR to bring them when I go to Alisha's wedding on the 8th. Coming up so soon when it had seemed so far away.
I can't wait to go. Have some time with family I don't get to see much of and laugh and celebrate. Hope my cold is better by then.

Quiet house
Quiet in the house tonight. Hubby worked 19hours overnight and didn't get home until 3pm. Went in for a nap at 4 and is still there; 10:29 est. Son was up at 3:30 am and finally took a nap around 4pm so he's FINALLY in bed. Me...couldn't sleep got past the tired now overtired, having a glass of wine while the cat meows at my feet.
I did manage Joanne fabrics this morning while wee one was in nursery school, so I can finish the gift I'm making for my nieces wedding, just a few weeks away now. I'm also working on one of my first mixed media pieces. Cool clock found leftover at a tagsale with FREE written next to it! What a wonderful word - free. It's gotten several coats of black paint and the dressing up will begin this weekend. It's not in shape for actual clock use, but I instantly saw "Le Masquerade" when I picked it up. Pictures will be posted when complete. It's exciting and scary all at once I'm trying several new things including making a couple of dolls and sculpting their heads from Sculpey clay. FUN FUN. It's wonderful to play.

Finally back
I couldn't remember my blog sign in and wasn't getting the e-mail for the reset but finally got it all straightened out. I'm back and will begin really working on this blog to build it up and follow my creative journey from hobby to livelihood!

Whatever
Sometimes it's tough to be creative. You're tired, your 3 year old wants to watch Scooby Doo or your husband pisses you off. And then sometimes needle in hand I sit and sew as all goes crazy around me. Taking the time slowing down and not thinking of all the things I should be doing but doing the thing I want to do. I don't know sometimes I wish I could be happy just having a regular life, 9-5 drone in drone out. But that is not the path I was meant to take. I need to create, need to express myself and quickly get bored with the day to day of an office job. Nothing wrong with the office jobs mind you some are very happy with them and God bless you but it's not the life for me. If getting out of bed is a chore because you don't want to start yet another day, then what is the point?
Feeling extremely tired tonight, would like to be profound and poetic but it just isn't going to happen.
So good night great universe, perhaps I''ll have more to contribute tomorrow.

Something to listen to
What is it about music that just gets into you. That certain song on the radio that you'll sit in your car for and be late to hear the end of it? Or sitting quietly with something on that takes you completely away from where you are. Sometimes it feels like your body can't quite contain the feelings that music brings. And certain songs will take you right back to the cheerleading bus (Jack and Diane) Or sitting with friends in an old house looking out at a weeping willow tree having a beer and writing a paper (The Color Purple). I play the piano and guitar but was never able to improvise or write music and that frustrated me no end. Sometimes I'll dream at night and will be composing the most amazing music, and that small watcher that is in us all realizes I'm dreaming and says you must remember this music. But it never makes it until morning. I'm just left aware that something magical has slipped away.
Do you sometimes feel like you are slightly removed from the world? Like you are watching and learning something but aren't quite aware of what? And always the feeling that I'm not alone, that someone is with me always. Not in a creepy go see a shrink way, but just like I have someone keeping me company. I suppose many will say it's God, or a guardian angel, and that could be true. I was just always aware even from the time when I was little that it wasn't just me going around.
So I'll go and listen to some music for a while transport myself and enjoy the evening.
Good Night

Off to the fabric store
Went off to Joanne Fabrics for my weekly pilgrimage. Only had a little to spend this week and very specific stuff in mind. But walking around looking at everything is sometimes just as good as buying. Looking at fabric and embroidery floss always inspires me. Theres this rush that comes over me when looking at color, any kind. I'll pour over a Dick Blick catalog as if its a magazine. Wanting to buy every kind of pen, pencil and paint. Ahhh to have unlimited money, talent and time. Off to make blueberry scones and dinner; in that order.

And so it begins
So what in the world made me think I needed to blog? Who knows. Just a chance to put things out there in the cosmos so I know I'm not alone in my thoughts. Maybe just because I like to write and this seems a good way to connect and share.
Soooo, I'm a creative person, read: don't like "regular" jobs. Spent most of my time as a secretary writing short stories or doing something creative on the sly when there was down time. Full time mom right now but creating blankets for children and exploring a new art form for me, quilting but also combining embroidery, applique and whatever else I can come up with. It's tough to create consistently with a VERY VERY active 3 year old boy but I do find time and now that he's getting older try to get him involved in being creative, before the sports of school begin with dad. Then I'll get some of my time back and hopefully won't have to go back to a regular job.
It seems in these times it may be a better time to follow your dreams and create something from nothing seeing as so much nothing has been created from something. So laws of attraction unite as I go after my dream and experiment. With cloth, paint and yes words.
